Lake Somerville 4/10/2021
OMG! Our fourth tournament of the year is in the books and if you were there you are thankful.
At least 23 of us anyway. We had a cold front blow through in the early morning. It dropped the
temperature down in the low 60’s but we a had a sustained north wind at 20 – 25 mph all day.
Which made if feel much colder than it really was. It did kind of warm up throughout the day but
the damage to the fishing was done by that point. Like I mentioned. We had 23 members and
guests that did not even catch a legal Largemouth Bass. Most of us spent the day catching Hybrids
and Sand Bass. I have been a KFC member for over 20 years, and I cannot remember ever not
paying out all the places and Big Bass prizes. So, the money for 3rd, 4th, 5th and both Big Bass
prizes will be rolled over into the pay outs for our next tournament.
So, all that negativity aside. We had an epic performance by three of our members that really
made us all say, WOW! Kevin Phillips took 3rd place with a nice keeper on a drop shot. Then the
team of Derrick Hall and Bryce Regan came to the scales. Bryce Regan had 21.19 lbs. to take
second place and Derrick Hall had 25.95 lbs. to take first place. CONGRATS TO DERRICK AND
BRYCE. They made us all look bad. They caught their fish on square bill crankbaits on an old
roadbed they knew about. It was very impressive to see both those sacks of fish weighed in.
GREAT JOB GUYS!!
Our next tournament is a two-day weigh-in event at Sam Rayburn on Saturday, May 1st, and
Sunday May 2nd.
Hope to see you there.
